(ECNS) -- Thailand has expressed appreciation for China's role in helping ease tensions along the Thailand-Cambodia border, said Thai Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nikorndej Balankura.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, Balankura said Thailand appreciated China's role in de-escalating the confrontation between Thailand and Cambodia, and praised China for maintaining an objective and impartial stance.
The two sides are set to hold a meeting of the General Border Committee in Thailand on Thursday, during which the two countries' militaries are expected to discuss ceasefire arrangements.
The spokesperson also briefed the media on Thailand's participation in the Special ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting held Monday. He reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to resolving the issue through bilateral mechanisms, stressing that any sustainable solution must be directly led by Thailand and Cambodia.
