(ECNS) -- Chinese e-commerce platform JD.com has confirmed night that a theft had occurred at one of its warehouses in France, saying local police have launched an investigation and operations have since resumed normally.
In a response to Chinese media outlet Economic View on Tuesday night, the company said that a JD warehouse located in Paris was targeted in a burglary on Monday, and the case is being handled by local authorities.
JD noted that it has taken note of reports circulating online about "significant losses," adding that the figures disclosed differ substantially from the actual situation.
Earlier, unverified reports claimed that more than 50,000 units of 3C electronic products — including mobile phones, computers and tablets — were stolen from the warehouse, with losses estimated at about 37 million euros (approximately 306 million yuan).
JD also said that in recent years it has established more than 130 overseas warehouses of various types across 23 countries and regions, all operating in compliance with local laws and regulations.
