(ECNS) – Chinese food and beverage giant, Wahaha Group, on Saturday confirmed that Zong Fuli has officially resigned from her positions as the company’s legal representative, director, and chairwoman. The resignation was approved on Sept. 12 through the company’s shareholders’ and board procedures.
As the daughter of Wahaha founder Zong Qinghou, Zong Fuli has been deeply involved in the food and beverage industry for decades. She was appointed vice chairwoman and general manager of Wahaha in December 2021, overseeing daily operations.
Following her father’s passing on Feb. 25, 2024, Wahaha announced on July 22, 2024, that Zong Fuli would continue to fulfill her management duties. In late August 2024, she became a shareholder of Wahaha, holding a 29.4 percent stake, making her the second-largest shareholder of the company.
Wahaha Group, based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, was founded in 1987, and has long been one of China's most recognizable homegrown beverage brands.
