(ECNS) -- The main tower of the Shuangyumen super major bridge on the Liuheng highway witnessed its topping-out on Friday in Zhoushan Port of Zhejiang's Ningbo.

The last beam, weighing 180 metric tons, was precisely hoisted into place, marking a key step toward the full connection of the 1,768-meter-span bridge, the largest single-span cross-sea suspension bridge with a steel box girder in China.

The construction of the Shuangyumen super major bridge showcases the advanced level of China’s bridge engineering. China Railway Baoji Bridge (Zhoushan) Co., Ltd., which is responsible for fabricating the main tower’s steel structure, has achieved full-process intelligent manufacturing from steel plate cutting to beam coating. The use of intelligent welding robots paired with a real-time quality monitoring system has ensured a welding pass rate of over 99.5%, while improving efficiency by more than 40% compared with traditional methods.

Once completed, the bridge will strengthen the Zhoushan Port’s transport network and inject new momentum into Zhejiang’s marine economy and the Yangtze River Delta’s integrated development.
