China extends condolences for assassination of Ecuador's presidential candidate

(ECNS) -- China extends its condolences for the unfortunate assassination of Ecuador's presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio, said a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Thursday, following a report of the death of Villavicencio.

China condemns the attack and hopes the Ecuadorian government and relevant parties will work to maintain stability and that the upcoming election will be safe, steady and smooth, said the spokesperson.
