36 passengers suffer minor injury after plane skids off runway in Chongqing : CAAC

(ECNS) -- Thirty-six passengers suffered minor injuries after a plane skipped off the runway at the Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport on Thursday, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China( CAAC) Southwest Regional Administration.

Earlier reports said 41 passengers were slightly injured.

The flight TV9833, operated by Tibet Airlines, was heading to Nyingchi, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, when it took off and ran off the runway at 8:09 a.m.

All 113 passengers and 9 crew members were evacuated.

After the accident, one runway at the airport is closed, the other two are operating normally.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
