Renowned diver Han Ting has gone missing while diving in a cave in Jiudun village, Du'an, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region in southern China.

Han was seen diving into the cave on Saturday evening, and as of Monday afternoon, the cave area had been closed off and search and rescue operations were ongoing.

According to the China Adventure Association, Han is China's first triple coach in recreational scuba diving, free diving, and technical diving. He is also a technical diving instructor for famous actor Wu Jing.

In April, Han broke his own record for the deepest cave dive in Asia, improving it from 234 meters to 277.4 meters at the Jiudun cave, only 9 meters shy of the world record.

Han has participated in numerous important diving missions in Guangxi, such as for shipwreck archaeology and recovering human bodies, including rescue operations at the Jiudun location.

Du'an is considered a top destination for diving enthusiasts around the world. In the Du'an Underground River National Geological Park, there are over 300 underground caves with excellent views.
