China, Argentina vow to advance bilateral ties

China and Argentina on Wednesday pledged to work together to promote bilateral ties and deepen cooperation.

During a meeting here with Argentine President Mauricio Macri, visiting Chinese State Councilor and Minister of National Defense Wei Fenghe conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping's kind greetings and good wishes to Macri.

Macri expressed his gratitude and asked Wei to convey his high respect and sincere regards to Xi, saying China is Argentina's important partner for cooperation, and Argentina appreciates China's long-term help and support.

Argentina is committed to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership with China and is willing to further deepen bilateral practical cooperation in various fields so as to promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations, he added.

For his part, Wei said China and Argentina are good friends and good partners.

Under the leadership of the two heads of state, China and Argentina maintain mutual political trust, close economic and trade cooperation, support each other on issues concerning their respective core interests, and keep good coordination and communication in international and regional affairs, said Wei.

Military relations between the two countries have maintained good momentum and cooperation in various fields has achieved remarkable results, he said.

China is ready to work with Argentina to implement the important consensus of the two heads of state and lift their military relations to a higher level, he added.

Earlier in the day, Wei held talks with Argentine Defense Minister Oscar Aguad.
