One person was killed and at least nine others, including six policemen and two journalists, were injured as twin blasts hit Pakistan's southwest Quetta city on Thursday, hospital officials said.

Waseem Baig, spokesperson for the Civil Hospital Quetta, told Xinhua that they had received one body and nine injured people at the hospital.

The wounded people are being treated in the trauma center of the hospital, said the spokesperson.

According to police officials, a cylinder blast took place inside an office of a transport company in the Khaizi Chowk area in Quetta, the provincial capital of southwest Balochistan province, and wounded several people.

As rescue teams, police and journalists reached the site of the incident, another blast occurred, injuring police and media personnel, police told local media, adding that explosives-laden motorcycle was used in the second explosion.

Police and security forces rushed to the site and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital in the city, where several among the injured are said to be in critical condition.

Security forces cordoned off the area and kicked off a search operation in the surroundings to track down the culprits. No group or individual has claimed the attack yet.
