Xing Yun, a former senior legislator of northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) for serious violations of Party discipline and laws, the top anti-graft body announced Monday.

The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission issued a statement and said Xing, former vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Inner Mongolia, had lost his ideals and convictions.

It also accused Xing of political degeneration and deterioration.

The statement said that an investigation has found that Xing, over a long period, had been taking advantage of his posts to seek benefits for others in promotions and job changes, accepting a huge amount of money and gifts.

Xing had promoted a large number of officials in a short period, illegally meddled in judicial affairs, seriously undermined the Party's personnel system and the local political ecosystem, the statement said.

Also, the statement said Xing, consorting with some private enterprise owners and using his power and influence to seek benefits for them, had traded power for money unscrupulously.

He was also found to have traded power and money for sex.

The statement said that Xing had seriously violated the Party's code of conduct on organization, clean governance, work and life and showed no signs of restraint even after the 18th CPC National Congress.

It said he is also suspected of crimes of bribe-taking, and the suspected crimes will be transferred to the procuratorate for further investigation and prosecution.

His illicit gains should be confiscated and the benefits he enjoys should be cancelled, the statement said.
