The Chicago Bulls announced on Monday that their forward Wendell Carter underwent successful surgery to repair the collateral ligament of his left thumb.

Carter, the No.7 draft pick this season, is expected to be out for 8-12 weeks.

Carter was injured in the game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Jan. 15. The injury was initially diagnosed as a sprain, but further check revealed it was more serious.
