Beijing to host the 2027 BWF Sudirman Cup Finals

(ECNS) -- Beijing will host the BWF Sudirman Cup Finals from April 21 to May 2, 2027, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced on Wednesday. 

The event will mark the first time Beijing has hosted a BWF individual or team world championship since the Sudirman Cup in 2005.

BWF President Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul said China had long played an key role in badminton's development and global success, adding that the federation was delighted to bring the Sudirman Cup Finals back to Beijing.

Starting in 2027, major BWF championships will adopt an extended 12-day format, with team events expanding to 24 member associations, a move intended to boost fan engagement, generate commercial opportunities and extend badminton's reach into more markets.
