Beijing's Beihai Park opens historic Glazed Tile Precious Hall

 

(ECNS) -- The Glazed Tile Precious Hall at Beihai Park in Beijing opened to the public on Tuesday after being closed for more than 70 years. 

The nearly 300-year-old hall underwent restoration and visitor-service upgrades before reopening. Its main structure is renowned for the 1,424 glazed Amitayus Buddha statues embedded in the exterior walls.

The restoration followed a minimum-intervention approach, preserving the historic layout and architectural features while improving visitor facilities and routes.

Regular exhibitions on the hall's history and the craftsmanship behind its glazed decorations will also be launched. The compound has now been incorporated into Beihai Park's regular visitor route.
