China wins women's team badminton gold at Asian Games after 12 years

(ECNS) -- China defeated Japan 3-0 in the women's team badminton final at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Thursday, reclaiming the title after a 12-year absence.

China had won the women's team gold at five consecutive Asian Games from 1998 to 2014. Japan and South Korea then claimed the title at the Jakarta and Hangzhou Asian Games, respectively.

The victory ended a 12-year wait for the Chinese team and marked its return to the top of the Asian Games women's team badminton event.
