(ECNS) -- The 2026 ASEAN Film Festival kicked off in Hong Kong on Thursday. It features over 30 free screenings at multiple local venues through to Sept. 27.
Co-hosted by the Hong Kong-ASEAN Foundation and the Cultural the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDAHK), Cultural and Tourism Bureau, this year’s edition marks the first participation of Timor-Leste, which brings a collection of intangible cultural heritage short films centred on music.
Cohosted by the Hong KongASEAN Foundation and CCIDAHK, this year’s edition includes TimorLeste’s debut with heritage films centered on music.
Hong Kong’s culture secretary Rosanna Law said the festival aligns with the city’s role as an East-meets-West hub. Post-screening sessions will allow audiences to interact with visiting directors and crews.
