(ECNS) -- Guangzhou’s Nansha Port hosted the maiden voyage of Sea Legend Shipping’s CAX “China–Europe Arctic Express” on Wednesday, marking south China’s first direct shipping route to Europe via the Arctic Ocean.
The service uses the Arctic Northeast Passage to connect South and East China’s trade hubs with Europe. Cargo from Nansha to Britain’s Port of Felixstowe now takes 28 days — 14 fewer than the Cape of Good Hope route.
Officials said the new corridor strengthens the Greater Bay Area’s role in Asia–Europe trade, giving exporters a faster, direct link through the Arctic Circle to Europe’s core ports.
