(ECNS) -- The Trump administration has lifted restrictions on the use of TikTok on federal government devices, saying the short-video app no longer poses a national security threat following the restructuring of its U.S. operations.

The Office of Management and Budget issued a memorandum Monday revoking a 2023 directive that had barred TikTok from federal government devices over security concerns.

On July 6, Trump publicly singled out so-called "China expert" Gordon Chang, criticizing his remarks on China as "always so negative." Trump said such warnings were overly alarmist.

Trump claimed in early July 2026 that he was number one on TikTok.

He also credited TikTok with helping his 2024 presidential campaign.
