(ECNS) -- The 2026 Hong Kong New Year's Eve Fireworks will be replaced with a countdown event in Victoria Harbour, the Hong Kong Tourism Board announced Wednesday.

The board said the event aims to convey positive energy and wishes of care and safety to residents and visitors, as the city welcomes a new year.
