Paper train tickets to officially become history in China from September

(ECNS) -- The topic "Paper train tickets will officially become a thing of the past" topped trending news on Chinese social platform Weibo on Monday.

According to railway authorities, starting Sept. 30, paper vouchers will be completely phased out and replaced by electronic invoices. Many netizens shared photos of their old paper train tickets.

Since Nov. 1, 2024, China's railway passenger service has been promoting the use of fully digital electronic invoices. Passengers who need reimbursement no longer have to print tickets, also known as paper reimbursement vouchers, at railway stations.
