Special: Battle Against Novel Coronavirus

(ECNS) -- The Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region has purchased a batch of the domestically developed COVID-19 oral medicine Azvudine for urgent clinical use, said Hu Zhichun, an official from the regional health commission, on Tuesday.

Urumqi city and the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture have also established special hospitals for people with "yellow" health codes, Hu added.

These hospitals have independent areas for emergency treatment of COVID-19 patients.

A total of 589 medical workers from 19 teams in Xinjiang have been dispatched to Ili to support the pandemic fight, and 107 patients have been released from quarantine and medical observation in the latest COVID-19 outbreak, Hu said.

Xinjiang on Tuesday reported 11 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 151 asymptomatic cases, while 23 asymptomatic cases had been released from quarantine.
