(ECNS) -- Beijing has the lowest unemployment rate among 12 metropolises in the world, the Beijing Times said, citing a report released Friday.

The city’s unemployment rate was 1.21 percent, lower than 11 other big cities selected for comparison, namely Berlin, Tokyo, London, Paris, Los Angeles, New York, Singapore, Sydney, Toronto, Montreal and Hong Kong, according to the report on the social construction of Chinese cities.

Citizens in Beijing have other advantages besides sufficient job opportunities, the report said. The capital ranks highest in 37 aspects among Chinese cities, including social security, social management, social environment and social services.

There are an average 4.06 practicing medics for every 1,000 people in the capital, followed by 3.07 in Guangzhou, 2.41 in Shanghai, and 2.39 in Shenzhen.

Beijing also has the largest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and boasts the largest number of staff in the cultural and creative industries.

However, the city was in middle position in terms of the number of public libraries, cinemas and galleries per 100,000 people, as well as citizen life expectancy.

The report urged the capital to invest more in social security, culture and entertainment facilities.
