Thirty-eight companies from Germany and the Czech Republic have showed interest in exploring business opportunities in central China's Hubei Province.

The European companies signed a service cooperation agreement with Chinese firms at the China-EU free trade and investment forum held in Wuhan, capital of Hubei, on Monday.

The European companies, including Prague Innovation S.R.O, cover the automobile manufacturing, precision machining, electronics, construction materials and finance industries. More than 20 Chinese companies, including Digital China, attended the forum.

The forum helped build a platform for industrial cooperation between Chinese and European companies, according to managers of European companies.

The implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and the "Made in China 2025" strategy will create broad space for cooperation between China and European countries, said Wang Duoli, deputy head of the management committee of the Wuhan section of the Hubei Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ).

The Hubei FTZ was launched in April 2017. China currently has 11 FTZs, which aim for wider opening-up and trade facilitation.

China has pledged to open wider to the outside. As one of the latest moves, the country has specified measures that will ease or lift foreign investment restrictions in its financial markets.
