There were a total of 346 MICE ( Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) events held in Macao in the fourth quarter of 2013, 17.7 percent up from a year earlier, according to the figures released Friday by the city's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
The total number of participants and attendees increased by 58. 5 percent year-on-year to 987,000. There were 24 exhibitions held in the fourth quarter of 2013, an increase of five exhibitions year-on-year and the number of attendees increased by 59 percent to 931,000. Meanwhile, the other 322 meetings and conferences had 56,000 participants.
For the whole year of 2013, the number of MICE events held totaled 1,030, up by eight year-on-year. The total number of participants and attendees increased by 26.1 percent year-on-year to 2,034,000, of which 1,893,000 attendees were attracted by 66 exhibitions, up by 27 percent.
