Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi recently made gravely erroneous remarks regarding the Taiwan question, drawing widespread criticism. When guesting on the "W.E. Talk" program, Xiang Haoyu, a research fellow in the Department for Asia-Pacific Studies at the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), stated that Takaichi’s erroneous remarks are not accidental.
They have deep-seated political motives and strategic considerations, and are an inevitable outcome of the long-term evolution of Japan’s political shift to the right.
Xiang further emphasized that since taking office, Takaichi has adopted a series of moves in the field of military buildup and expansion, which have disrupted the regional security architecture and seriously undermined regional peace and stability.
The international community should remain highly vigilant against Japan’s blatant violation of the post-war international order and its dangerous attempt to revive militarism.(Guan Na)
