(ECNS) -- Beijing's ports had recorded more than 20 million inbound and outbound passenger trips by 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, reaching the milestone 31 days earlier than last year, according to the Beijing General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection.

Foreign nationals made 6.982 million trips, up 29.3% year on year. Visa-free entries by foreign nationals totaled 2.535 million, accounting for 69.9% of all foreign arrivals.

Most foreign visitors came for tourism, followed by business and visits to family and friends.

To facilitate travel, Beijing has introduced online submission of arrival cards, multilingual assistance and priority immigration clearance channels for elderly travelers, children, people with disabilities and families with infants.
