China will continue to experience the effects of a cold wave from Friday to Saturday, with temperatures in the central and eastern regions expected to drop by 6 to 10 degrees Celsius. In some areas, the temperature could fall by more than 12 degrees Celsius.

The National Meteorological Center on Friday morning issued blue warnings for a cold wave, heavy snow and strong winds.

As the cold front moves through, many regions along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and north of it will experience their lowest temperatures in the past six months.

The cold wave began moving south and east on Wednesday, initially impacting northern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, where temperatures plunged by over 14 degrees Celsius in some areas.

By Friday morning, the cold front reached northwest China's Gansu Province, and it is expected to continue affecting much of the country over the next two days.

In addition to the significant drop in daytime temperatures, early mornings are forecast to be even colder. By Sunday morning, the 0-degree Celsius line is expected to shift southwards to impact Zhejiang, Jiangxi and Hubei provinces.

The cold wave is not expected to last long. By Saturday evening, its impact will begin to ease, and after Sunday, the cold air will significantly weaken. Most of the country will have a rapid temperature rebound, with temperatures expected to rise above seasonal averages.

The public is advised to take precautions against the sharp temperature drop by dressing warmly and ensuring safe heating. Caution is also urged when using heating equipment to prevent fire hazards and carbon monoxide poisoning.
