A Chinese spokesperson on Wednesday expressed China's strong opposition to the G7's repeated manipulation of China-related topics.

At a regular press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun responded to a question regarding China-related issues discussed at the G7 Summit.

The G7 Summit once again manipulated China-related issues, making unwarranted remarks on matters concerning Taiwan, the South China Sea, and the East China Sea, and maliciously slandering China over so-called "market distortions and harmful overcapacity," Guo pointed out.

These claims, Guo said, constitute a serious interference in China's internal affairs and a violation of the basic norms governing international relations. China has lodged stern representations with the parties concerned, he added.

Guo emphasized that the greatest threat to peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits comes from separatist attempts to promote "Taiwan independence," as well as from foreign interference. "If the G7 truly cares about peace in the Taiwan Straits," he stated, "it should uphold the one-China principle, clearly oppose 'Taiwan independence,' and support China's peaceful reunification."

Regarding the East China Sea and South China Sea, Guo pointed out that the overall situation remains stable due to the collective efforts of regional countries. He urged the G7 to respect regional consensus, refrain from using maritime issues to drive wedges between nations, and stop fueling tensions.

On economic matters, Guo refuted the narrative of so-called Chinese "overcapacity" and "market distortion," calling it a false proposition driven by protectionist motives. He noted that the real intention behind such rhetoric is to suppress China's legitimate development and to politicize and instrumentalize trade issues.

Guo called on the G7 to recognize the prevailing trend of global development, abandon Cold War mentality and ideological bias, stop interfering in China's internal affairs, stop provoking confrontation, and do more things that are truly beneficial to the international community.
