An upcoming major security forum in Beijing will host a record-breaking number of participants from around the globe as China's views on global security win the hearts of many, experts said on Tuesday.

With the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum scheduled from Sunday to Tuesday, preparations for the forum are basically complete, it was announced at a media briefing on Tuesday.

Official delegations from more than 90 countries and international organizations including Russia and the US have confirmed their participation as of Monday, including 22 representatives at the defense minister-level or higher, and 14 representatives at the military chief-level, as the number and level of representatives participating in the forum will reach a record high, particularly those from developing countries as well as international and regional organizations.

More than 200 experts from over 50 countries and regions have also signed up for the forum.

With the forum included as a major platform mechanism of implementing the Global Security Initiative in the Global Security Initiative Concept Paper issued in February, the event will comprehensively implement the concept of a global community of a shared future, as the theme of "Common Security, Lasting Peace" also reflects the core concept of the Global Security Initiative.

The forum will closely focus on the security concerns of the international community, including hot security issues and key cooperation directions in the Global Security Initiative, encourage parties to boost trust and dissolve mistrust, enhance exchanges, solidarity and cooperation, as well as oppose contradictions and confrontations.

The event will also serve as a platform for the majority of developing countries to have their voices heard, as the forum encourages them, particularly small- and medium-sized countries, to join the dialogues. The forum will uphold the common values of mankind, oppose group confrontation and Cold War-mentality, promote resolving differences and conflicts between countries through peaceful means, jointly safeguard peace and tranquility of the world, and enlarge the discourse power and influence of developing countries in global security governance.

Song Zhongping, a Chinese military expert and TV commentator, told the Global Times on Tuesday that the wide and record-breaking participation from countries and organizations around the world shows that China's views on global security have won the hearts of many.

At the core of global security views should be common security rather than unilateral security based on violating others' security, which is being practiced by some Western countries, Song said.
