(ECNS) -- China's Shenzhou-22 spacecraft successfully completed an autonomous rapid rendezvous and docking with the space station on Tuesday, according to the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA).

After entering orbit and completing system configuration, Shenzhou-22 docked with the front port of the space station's core module Tianhe at 3:50 p.m. Beijing Time. The spacecraft will later serve as the return vehicle for the Shenzhou-21 crew.

The Shenzhou-21 astronauts are reported to be in good condition and continue to carry out scheduled tasks as planned. Meanwhile, Shenzhou-20 remains in orbit to conduct ongoing experiments, CMSA said.

Following a suspected minor space debris impact on Nov. 5 that delayed Shenzhou-20’s return, the mission command swiftly activated contingency plans. The mission has demonstrated the efficiency and resilience of China's space program in responding to unexpected events, reaffirming its commitment to crew safety and operational reliability, said CMSA.

The success also highlights the strength of the national coordination system and the effectiveness of the space station’s backup strategies, while reflecting the dedication and professionalism of China’s human spaceflight teams, CMSA added.
