(ECNS) -- A Latvian judge in the Latin dance contest at The World Games 2025 in southwest China's Chengdu became famous overnight on Chinese social media due to his elegance, winning him the nickname "Mr. Ferrari."
At 1.91 meters tall, Sergey Sinkins attracted the public's attention on Friday at the Chengbei Gymnasium for his upright posture, elegant demeanor, and sharp formal attire.
As photos and videos of Sinkins continued to flood social media feeds, one word dominated the comments: "grace."
Whether it was his composed demeanor while entering or exiting the dance floor, his intense focus while scoring performances, or even the quiet moments standing by the dance floor, netizens unanimously described him with the word "elegance."
"I was told about it last night," the Latvian said after officiating Saturday's standard dance event. "I'm surprised and grateful. I was just doing my job, and it's the audience who chose to notice me."
Born in 1970, Sinkins began dancing at the age of seven, competing professionally before becoming a coach and judge. He first came to China for the 2024 Asian Dancesport Festival in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. The Chengdu World Games marked his second trip.
He said he had been struck by the warmth of the crowds and the professionalism of the organizers.
As for the question of how to stay elegant, Sinkins said: "Make dance part of your life. Good posture and habits become part of your body. Stay positive, surround yourself with sincere people, and you'll always carry yourself well."
