(ECNS) — China's second domestically-built large cruise ship, Adora Huacheng, has entered the equipment commissioning and system testing phase, according to China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) on Tuesday.
The milestone was marked as the ship's first main generator was powered up. The main generator — often referred to as the "heart" of a cruise ship — is critical to both power distribution and propulsion. Its activation signals that more than 300 related devices are ready for integration.
Adora Huacheng is equipped with five high-capacity generators, strategically placed in separate engine rooms at the bow and stern. Each unit delivers up to 16.8 megawatts of power, roughly equivalent to the main engine of a 100,000-ton cargo vessel.
