(ECNS) -- Brazilian ex-president Jair Bolsonaro was discharged from a Florida hospital Tuesday, two days after his supporters stormed offices associated with the three branches of Brazil’s government — the Supreme Court, Congress and the executive branch — to protest the 2022 elections, AFP reported.
On Monday Bolsonaro confirmed on social media that he had been hospitalized and he posted a photo showing himself in a hospital bed.
Bolsonaro took to Twitter Sunday night to condemn the "pillaging" in Brasilia, but rejected President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's claim he incited the attacks, defending the right to "peaceful protests."
The former Brazilian leader was stabbed in the abdomen in an attack that nearly claimed his life during his winning campaign in 2018. He has had a series of health problems stemming from the knife attack and has undergone multiple surgeries since that, AFP said.
