(ECNS) -- An initial investigation report on the plane crash of flight MU5735 of China Eastern Airlines will be released within 30 days, said Zhu Tao, head of the aviation safety office of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), on Thursday.
An emergency response plan was implemented immediately after the accident. Two black boxes have been found in a week and identification and DNA comparison of the victims have been finished in eight days, said Zhu, adding that the rescue work had basically come to an end.
According to Zhu, the investigation group has made preliminary progress. At present, the search for wreckage has been completed with more than 40,000 pieces of debris, including that of the plane engines and two black boxes found, with work for disinfection, cleaning, identification, classification and numbering underway.
Experts are working on analyzing the crash and decoding the black boxes, said Zhu.
By Wednesday, 695 families of victims have been received, and 7,926 psychological evaluations and psychological counseling for 2,917 persons have been conducted, Zhu added.
