(ECNS) -- Air China, China's flag carrier, launched a Beijing-Copenhagen-Reykjavik route Monday, marking the first scheduled passenger service to Iceland by an airline from Chinese mainland.
It is also currently the only scheduled passenger route connecting East Asia and Southeast Asia with Iceland, Air China said.
The new service flies from Beijing to Reykjavik with a stop in Copenhagen, allowing passengers to travel on a single ticket with baggage checked through to their final destination. The total flight time is about 15 hours, 45 minutes.
The route fills a gap in scheduled passenger services between the Chinese mainland and Iceland. Air China said it expects the route to support business exchanges, tourism and educational visits while further expanding China's air route network in Europe.
