(ECNS) -- China's foreign trade with Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) partner countries rose 17.1% year on year to 20.37 trillion yuan ($3.04 trillion) in the first three quarters of the year, the General Administration of Customs (GAC) said on Wednesday.
Chinese exports to these nations climbed 16.6%, while imports increased 17.9%, said Lyu Daliang, a spokesperson for the GAC.
Nearly 80% of BRI partner countries registered growth in bilateral trade with China during the January-September period. Trade with BRI partners accounted for 51% of China's total foreign trade and contributed 47.1% to the country's overall trade growth in the period, Lyu said.
Based on the latest international data estimates, China ranked among the top three trading partners for 134 BRI partner economies and was the largest trading partner for 74 of them in the first seven months of the year, the spokesperson added.
