(ECNS) -- Century Dream, a brand-new river cruise ship operated by Century Cruises, set off on its maiden voyage from Chaotianmen Wharf in Chongqing on Monday evening, beginning service on the Chongqing-Yichang route through the Yangtze River’s Three Gorges.
Measuring 149.99 meters in length and 21.2 meters in width, the 15,000-metric-ton vessel features seven decks, 236 guest cabins and can accommodate up to 650 passengers.
Designed and operated by Chongqing Guanda Century Cruise Co., Ltd. (Century Cruises), the ship features leisure areas alongside an immersive stage centered on NPC performances.
For its dining offerings, Century Cruises has brought six-star chefs on board. Menus feature 50 dishes blending cuisines from Austria, Germany, Italy, Japan and Southeast Asia with flavors from Hong Kong, China, and the Sichuan-Chongqing region.
Luo Zhongyi, director of the Chongqing Shipping Exchange, said the 100,000th inbound foreign tourist to take a Yangtze River cruise in 2026 — a visitor from Germany — was welcomed aboard the ship.
The “Grand River Civilization International Parlor,” jointly established by the Chongqing Yangtze River Culture Research Institute and Century Cruises, was inaugurated the same day.
Earlier in August 2026, Century Star, another vessel operated by Century Cruises, completed its maiden cruise on Europe’s Rhine River. The company is also building several new cruise ships for deployment on the Nile River.
