(ECNS) -- Chinese tennis player Zheng Qinwen has confirmed her participation in the 2026 China Open, the tournament organizer announced on Tuesday.

Zheng made a strong comeback at the 2026 U.S. Open, reaching the quarterfinals for the third time in her career after defeating six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek of Poland in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 in the fourth round. She rallied from a 0-5 deficit in the first set to complete the comeback. Her ranking has since surged to No. 52 in the live standings.

Due to an extended elbow injury earlier this season, Zheng's ranking dropped to No. 121, which initially left her off the direct entry list. She has been granted a wildcard for the main draw.

This will be Zheng's fourth consecutive appearance at the China Open, which will be held at the National Tennis Center in Beijing from September 30 to October 11. Her best result at the tournament came in 2024 when she reached the semifinals, marking her first career WTA 1000 semifinal appearance. In 2025, she was forced to retire in the third round due to injury after returning from elbow surgery.
