(ECNS) -- A cultural gala celebrating China's upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day took place in Sydney on Sunday, hosted by the Chinese Universities Alumni Association Alliance in Australia. The event brought together nearly 400 alumni from more than 50 leading Chinese universities, including Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Fudan University and Sun Yat-sen University.

In his opening address, Zhu Baisen, President of the Chinese Universities Alumni Association Alliance in Australia, hailed the gala as a cross-border cultural gathering that strengthens bonds among Chinese alumni abroad.

He said attendees celebrated traditional Chinese culture through a variety of song and dance performances marking the two festivals. He also expressed his sincere thanks to the Chinese Consulate General in Sydney, participating alumni associations, event organizers and volunteers for their dedicated support.

Lin Xiaoqing, Counsellor-Rank Consul for Education Affairs at the Consulate-General of China in Sydney, praised the alliance for its sustained efforts to build platforms for alumni communication, resource exchange and cultural promotion. Such efforts have significantly promoted people-to-people exchanges and friendly cooperation between China and Australia.

The gala showcased a wide range of traditional Chinese performances, including classic songs The Lights of China and Hometown of the Moon, guzheng solos and classical Chinese dances, creating a warm, festive atmosphere. The celebration concluded with an ensemble performance of One World, One Family.
