(ECNS) -- The 2026 Guangzhou Huangpu International Tennis Open, an ATP Challenger Tour 100 event, will be held from Sept. 13 to 20 in the Guangzhou Development District, the organizing committee announced on Wednesday.
The tournament will offer a total prize purse of $177,000, an increase from previous editions. As the highest-tier ATP Challenger event in southern China, it has attracted 69 players from 22 countries and regions to its preliminary entry list.
The tournament will feature men's singles and doubles, with a 24-player singles qualifying draw, a 32-player singles main draw and a 16-team doubles main draw.
The lineup includes Chinese star Wu Yibing, who reached a career-high ranking of No. 54, rising player Bu Yunchaokete, Hong Kong's Wong Chak-lam, ranked No. 94, and defending champion O'Connell.
A new "One Shot to Win" challenge will give amateur players the opportunity to compete alongside professionals at the official tournament venue.
The tournament will also unveil its official mascot, accompanied by the launch of a public naming contest.
The 2026 Tennis Carnival and Guangzhou Sports Consumption Season will be held alongside the tournament, featuring player meet-and-greets, visits by tennis stars to schools, intangible cultural heritage experiences and youth tennis study tours. The activities are designed to create an integrated model combining sports, tourism and consumer spending.
