(ECNS)-- A new international air route linking Yinchuan, Guangzhou and Singapore was launched on Monday, opening a new air corridor connecting northwest China with Southeast Asia.

The inaugural flight, carrying 185 passengers, departed from Yinchuan Hedong International Airport in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Operated daily by 9 Air using Boeing 737 aircraft, the service is expected to make travel to Southeast Asia more convenient for residents of northwest China.

Previously, travelers from the region often had to make multiple connections to reach destinations in Southeast Asia. The new route is expected to shorten travel times and provide passengers with more affordable travel options.

According to Ningxia Airport Company, the new air link will facilitate two-way travel and strengthen economic and trade cooperation among northwest China, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Southeast Asia.

The route is also expected to help Ningxia’s specialty agricultural products gain greater access to Southeast Asian markets, while creating new opportunities for Singapore’s trade and financial sectors to expand their links with northwest China.
