(ECNS)--Recently, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg once again defended NATO's expansion during the Davos Forum, claiming that NATO is a "transatlantic alliance," and the transatlantic region faces so-called "global threats." Stoltenberg also shifted blame, spreading the "China threat theory," stating that the issue is not NATO entering Asia but rather "China approaching NATO." However, numerous facts prove that NATO, which loudly proclaims other countries as "creating security threats," is the habitual offender in provoking conflicts.

NATO employs double standards. They claim to be a regional organization but repeatedly violate treaty provisions on geographic scope, extending their influence globally and negatively impacting world security. They accuse other countries of "engaging in malicious cyber activities" but turn a blind eye to cyber attacks launched by their member states. While often portraying themselves as proponents of multilateralism, they engage in unilateralism, using the pretext of protecting allies and upholding human rights to intervene militarily in sovereign nations, resulting in numerous tragedies.

NATO is militaristic and extends its influence globally. In Europe, NATO relentlessly expands eastward, sowing seeds in the Ukrainian crisis. After escalating regional tensions, they continue to provoke military confrontations, fearing that conflicts will subside. In Asia, they attempt to push for their own Asia-Pacific agenda, exaggerating security concerns and intending to disrupt the regional trend of seeking peace, cooperation, and development. In the Arctic region, they sensationalize great power competition, continuously strengthening military deployments, making the regional security situation even more complex and precarious.

Such NATO is hypocritical in words and ruthless in actions. As a product of the Cold War, it still clings to a mindset of group confrontation and zero-sum games, fabricating "targets" and throwing "poison darts" to disrupt the world. However, today's world is no longer the Cold War era, and the unstoppable trend is towards peace, development, and win-win cooperation. NATO's confrontational thinking and domineering behavior should come to an end.
