(ECNS) -- A weather station has been established on the summit of Mount Kunlun, at an altitude of 5896 meters above sea level, according to the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, on Sunday.
This station is the highest-altitude meteorological station across the entire Kunlun Mountains region.
Installed with automated detection equipment, it transmits data through BeiDou satellites. It also provides meteorological data for the research of high-altitude weather processes and climate traits of Mount Kunlun on the Northern Slope of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
