Nearly 30 reed parrotbills, a rare bird species on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, are discovered at a wetland area near Baisha River in Qingdao, in east China’s Shandong province on December 12, 2017. With their first recorded sighting made less than 150 years ago, reed parrotbills are restricted to reedbed habitats. Because of its rareness, the reed parrotbills is nicknamed “the panda of birds”.
