Apples carpet the field in an orchard in Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland. Hurricane Ophelia was downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it landed in Ireland, but gale-force winds still managed to strip fruit from the tree branches. Luckily the apples were not bruised as their fall was cushioned by rainwater after the orchard was flooded. Only a fraction remains on branches to be picked by hand later this year. (Photo/VCG)
