With the benefit of Beijing winning the bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics and Chinese government targeting attracting 300 million Chinese to participate in winter sports, the authorities of Hunan province takes winter sports industry more and more seriously and put it into the "the five-year plan"(from 2016 to 2020). A series of venues of winter sports for public are under construction, some of which have already opened. A total of eight removable ice rinks will be built in the cities like Binzhou, Huaihua, Xiangtan and Zhuzhou. With the rich resource of natural scenic spots in Hunan, the authorities develops winter sports and tourism at the same time. Ski resorts are under construction in the cities like Zhuzhou, Binzhou and Shaoyang. Liu Yang's Daweishan Mountain Ski Resort has opened and operated right now. All venues for winter sports in Hunan accommodate about 400,000 people a year and winter and summer vacations are the boom season of a whole year. Customers tend to make a one-time experience on weekend for winter sports and back off if the costing is too much, so the marketing of winter sports in Hunan is under developed. (Xinhua/Li Ga)
