Archeologists work in the relics of Zheng Han Old City in Xinzheng City, Central China’s Henan Province, Feb. 19, 2017. New findings include a city gate and well-preserved barbican-like wencheng, an enclosure for defense outside a city gate, which are expected to contribute to the understanding of defense systems used in China’s ancient cities. The relics date from the Spring and Autumn period (770 BC to 476 BC), when the area served at the capital for the Zheng and Han kingdoms. The city wall was about 20 kilometers in circumference with nearly 20 gates. (Photo/CFP)
