Guo Zengfa sells spring couplets he wrote near his house in Xi’an City, the capital of Northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, Jan. 20, 2017. Chinese love to paste couplets on the sides of doors when celebrating Spring Festival, China’s Lunar New Year. The couplets are generally written on red paper and the sentences contain auspicious meanings. The 63-year-old calligrapher said he creatively hid 18 roosters in the characters as 2017 is the Year of the Rooster. The couplets Guo wrote sold at 70 yuan ($10) for the big one at 2.4 meters high, or 30 yuan for the 1.2-meter type. (Photo/cnwest.com)
