A cultural relic related to Empress Wu Zetian (624-705) is on display in Beijing ahead of a tour on Sept. 28, 2016. An exhibition about the history and development of Chinese characters will be held in Japan from Oct. 18, 2016 to Sept. 10, 2017 after years of planning by Chinese and Japanese scholars. The show will present 118 items from six provinces in China, including inscriptions on bone and tortoise shell, bronze ware, and stone rubbing, the first extensive introduction of Chinese characters in Japan. The golden slip was from Empress Wu Zetian during her worshipping on Mount Song in Central China’s Henan Province, known as one the Five Great Mountains of China. On the slip were 63 characters, including five invented by herself. (Photo: China News Service/Du Yang )
