An Aesculus chinensis, the Chinese horse chestnut, grows in the Dacien Temple in Xi’an City, the capital of Northwest China’s Shaanxi Province. The tree is said to have grown from the only live tree planted by Tang Dynasty Buddhist monk Xuanzang (602–664) now in the province’s Yijun County, which is more than 1300 years old.
