Workers dump bricks of damaged banknotes at an incineration power plant in Yancheng, East China’s Jiangsu province. Nearly 150 tons of damaged bills worth 15 billion yuan are bunt in the plant every month to generate electricity for local residents. To ensure the discarded bills are burned entirely, the compressed, shredded matter is further processed into powder and then mixed with straw. (Photo/CFP)
